Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in Microsoft Word for the manuscript and PDF for the supplementary.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font of Times New Roman; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed at the end of the text.
- The manuscript used a one-column format and show continuous line numbers.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

1. General Information
PTJI welcomes contributions that advance knowledge sharing and reasoned discussion between active educators and physical therapy researchers worldwide. The journal covers scientific underpinnings of physical therapy including review articles, clinical cases, and evidence-based research across its full scope of topics.
Articles must be written in clear, succinct English, in accordance with the guidelines for scientific writing provided in Scientific Style and Format by the Council of Science Editors (CSE), 7th edition.
Originality requirement: Only content that has not been published before (in print or electronically) and is not currently under review elsewhere will be considered. Prior data disclosure at a scientific symposium does not prohibit publication.
Plagiarism policy: All submissions are screened using Turnitin. Authors who submit previously published work will be banned from future submissions, and their institution and/or funding body will be notified.
2. Mandatory Pre-submission Checklist
Manuscripts missing any of the following six items will be automatically rejected.

Ethical Clearance
Provide the ethical clearance record number and a copy. For case series or case reports, also email the patient/family informed consent (in English) and complete the ICMJE form.

3. AI Use & Disclosure Policy
Policy Statement
PTJI follows the guidelines established by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and ICMJE regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in scientific writing. Authors are required to be transparent about any AI tool used during manuscript preparation.
Permitted AI Uses
Language editing and grammar correction
Summarizing or organizing existing content
Literature search assistance

AI tools cannot be listed as authors
AI-generated data, results, or fabricated references
Using AI to bypass ethical responsibilities
Undisclosed AI use in any part of the manuscript
Disclosure requirement: Authors must disclose, in the Methods section or Acknowledgments, the name of the AI tool used, its version, the provider, and a clear description of how it was used. The corresponding author takes full responsibility for the integrity of all AI-assisted content. Failure to disclose AI use constitutes a breach of publication ethics and may result in retraction. 4. Double-Blind Peer Review Process
The review process at PTJI is double-blind: neither the reviewers' nor the authors' names are ever revealed to the other party.

Submission
Submit two separate files to protect anonymity:
File 1 — Title Page
Title, author names & affiliations, corresponding author contact (address, phone, email).
File 2 — Blinded Manuscript
Complete manuscript with no author names, affiliations, or identifying information.
Blinding checklist:
▸ Refer to own prior work in third person: write "[Anonymous, 2007]" instead of "as we showed..."
▸ Remove all affiliation-related identifiers from figures
▸ In the reference list: "[Anonymous 2007] Information withheld for double-blind reviewing"
▸ Remove acknowledgments and funding sources
▸ Remove author names from file names and document properties

Initial Evaluation
The editorial team checks: (a) relevance to PTJI scope, (b) English language quality, (c) completeness of the six mandatory pre-submission requirements, and (d) overall compliance with formatting guidelines.

Peer Review
Manuscripts passing the initial check are evaluated by at least two independent experts. Reviewers use standardized checklists, including the Publons Reviewer Guidelines ↗ and other specialized checklists ↗.
Authors have 7 days to respond to reviewer comments before resubmitting. The reviewer then makes a final decision: Accept / Revisions Needed / Reject.

Editorial Procedure & Publication
Accepted manuscripts are sent to the editor for final proofread and copy-editing. The author must approve the final version before conversion to PDF galley and publication on the website.
5. Authorship
All authors must meet ALL four ICMJE criteria:
Substantial contributions to conception/design, data collection, analysis, or interpretation.
Drafting or critically revising the manuscript for important intellectual content.
Final approval of the version to be published.
Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work.
Acknowledgements
Contributors who do not meet all authorship criteria (e.g., technical support, writing assistance) should be listed in the Acknowledgements section.
Author Order
Changes to authors — including adding, removing, or reordering — are not permitted after submission. Verify the author list and order carefully before submitting.

Title Page must include: brief running title, full name of each author (first, middle initial, last), affiliations in English, and corresponding author's full address, phone, fax, and email. Word count, number of tables, and number of figures must also be stated. Text should be center-aligned.
7. Article Types & Structure
1. Research Articles
Required order: Title → Abstract (max 300 words, structured: Background / Methods / Results / Conclusion) → Keywords (min. 4) → Introduction → Methods → Results → Discussion → Conclusion → References (max 50) → Ethical Consideration → Funding → Conflict of Interest → Author Contributions → Tables → Figures → Figure Legends.
RCT registration: All Randomized Controlled Trials must be prospectively registered in an ICMJE-accepted registry (e.g., ClinicalTrials.gov or WHO ICTRP). The registration number must appear at the end of the abstract.
2. Review Articles (Systematic Reviews & Meta-Analyses)
In-depth, critical, interpretive analyses of research areas or methodological stances. Must describe available methods along with their benefits, drawbacks, and applications.
PROSPERO registration: Systematic reviews and meta-analyses must be prospectively registered in PROSPERO. The registration identification number must be provided in the manuscript and at the end of the abstract.
3. Case Report / Case Series
Must include: (a) informed consent statement from the patient or guardian; (b) valid IRB approval or waiver number; and (c) high-quality, de-identified clinical figures (photographs, MRI, CT, X-ray, or lab results) in high resolution with descriptive captions.
8. Tables & Figures
Tables
▸ Double-spaced, placed on separate pages at the end of the text
▸ Use Word's "Insert Table" function — no tabs or spaces
▸ Unit symbols in column headings only; define all acronyms in legend
▸ No shading; symbol sequence for footnotes: *, †, ‡, §, ||, ¶, #, **, ††, ‡‡
▸ Tables reproduced from other sources require written permission from original publisher
Figures
▸ High-resolution; sized to final print dimensions (1–2 column width)
▸ Fonts 8–10pt at 100%; consistent across all figures
▸ Faces and identifiable features of human subjects must be blinded unless explicit written consent obtained
▸ Multi-panel figures labeled A, B, C; described in legend, not on the figure
▸ Line/bar graphs: bold lines; black/white only for ≤2 datasets; use hatch marks for additional bars
▸ Figure legends placed at end of text, not in image files
▸ Reproduced figures require written permission from original publisher
Abbreviations
Use only when necessary (lengthy chemical names, repeated terms). Abbreviate units only when used with numbers.
Units
Use SI units. Express HbA1c as dual values: "% (mmol/mol)". Use kcal, not kJ.
9. References — Vancouver Style
References must follow the Vancouver Style, numbered sequentially in order of citation in the text. All authors must be listed with inclusive page numbers. Journal abbreviations follow the National Library of Medicine (NLM) List of Journals Indexed for Medline; full titles for journals not in the list.

PTJI processes personal data only for the following legitimate purposes:
Editorial workflow: Managing submission, peer review, editorial correspondence, and publication decisions.
Journal communications: Sending notifications about submission status, editorial decisions, reviewer assignments, and journal updates.
Publication record: Publishing author names and affiliations as part of the academic record of published articles.
Indexing and discoverability: Sharing bibliographic metadata (title, authors, abstract, DOI) with indexing databases such as Scopus, DOAJ, Crossref, Google Scholar, SINTA, and Dimensions.
Statistical reporting: Generating aggregated, anonymized usage statistics (article views, downloads) for journal performance monitoring.

4. Legal Basis for Processing
PTJI processes personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for users in the European Economic Area, and Indonesian Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection (UU PDP). Our processing is based on:

5. Data Retention
Account data
Retained for as long as your account is active. Inactive accounts may be reviewed after 5 years.
Submission records
Retained indefinitely as part of the academic record of the journal, including rejected manuscripts (editorial correspondence retained for 7 years).
Published articles
Author metadata (name, affiliation) associated with published work is retained permanently as part of the scholarly record.
Technical logs
Server logs and access data are retained for up to 12 months, then deleted or anonymized.
6. Cookies & Tracking
PTJI uses only essential, functional cookies required for the journal platform to operate. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party behavioral analytics.

Used to maintain your login session. Deleted when you close your browser.
Preference Cookies
Store language and display preferences. Expire after 30 days.
Third-party Services
Google Scholar and Crossref may set their own cookies when you follow links to those services. PTJI does not control these.

8. Research Data & Patient Privacy
PTJI is committed to the ethical conduct of research involving human subjects in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki, ICMJE guidelines, and Indonesian KEPK (Komite Etik Penelitian Kesehatan) standards.
Anonymization: Authors must ensure that patient data included in manuscripts is fully de-identified. Faces, names, dates of birth, hospital record numbers, and other identifiable information must be removed or obscured.
Informed consent: Studies involving human participants must include a statement confirming that written informed consent was obtained. For case reports, patient or guardian consent must be documented.
Ethical approval: All research involving human subjects must report the relevant institutional review board (IRB/KEPK) approval number. Clinical trials must be prospectively registered.
9. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the following rights with respect to your personal data:
